FG Donates N25m Anti-Snake Venom to Benue State

The Federal Government of Nigeria has donated N25 million worth of anti-snake venom to Benue State to help ease the financial burden on snakebite victims and their families. The donation was received by Dr.

Paul Ogwuche, the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, on Friday in Makurdi. This intervention was secured through the state’s engagement with the Federal Ministry of Health and is intended to complement the state government's efforts to improve access to essential healthcare services.

Dr. Ogwuche commended the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, for his positive response to the state's request.

The availability of the anti-snake venom is expected to facilitate prompt treatment for snakebite victims and reduce the financial strain on affected families. The state ministry will ensure proper documentation, storage, distribution, and rational utilization of the consignment.

Dr. Cephas Hough, the Permanent Secretary, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments in addressing public health challenges.
