Nigeria Drives National Policy Direction for Drone Industry Growth

The Nigerian Ministry of Aviation, under the leadership of Barrister Festus Keyamo, has directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to commence the development of a national policy framework for the drone industry. This move is intended to regulate unmanned aerial system operations nationwide, complementing existing regulations.

The policy aims to facilitate the safe and rapid growth of the drone ecosystem in Nigeria, promoting job creation, innovation, and youth participation in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure inspection, filmmaking, and digital content production. The policy framework is expected to address operational responsibilities, safety measures, and unlock the full commercial potential of the drone industry.

The proposed policy recommendations are set to be finalized in the Dronetex 2024-2025 conference report.
