Nigeria Removes Mathematics Requirement for Arts and Humanities University Admission

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has announced a major reform in tertiary admission policies by eliminating the mathematics requirement for Arts and Humanities students. This decision, led by Minister Tunji Alausa, aims to increase access to higher education for students whose career paths do not necessitate advanced numeracy skills.

The reform applies to universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions nationwide, mandating a minimum of five credit passes, including English language, but no longer requiring mathematics for certain disciplines.
