Nigeria Overhauls Tertiary Admissions, Maths Not Compulsory for Arts Students

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a major overhaul in tertiary admissions, eliminating the mandatory Mathematics requirement for Arts students. The reforms aim to democratize access to higher education and remove barriers to admission while maintaining academic standards.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa from the Federal Ministry of Education highlighted the need for inclusivity and expanding access to tertiary education to accommodate more students annually.

The new guidelines seek to ensure every qualified Nigerian youth has a fair chance to pursue higher education without compromising quality.
