FG Drops Terror Financing Charges Against Malami's Son

The Federal Government has amended the case against Abdulaziz Malami, the son of the former Attorney General of the Federation, by dropping terrorism financing charges. The amendments were presented in court on Wednesday, where Akinlolu Kehind from the Department of State Services informed that the charges have been revised to focus on allegations of unlawful possession of firearms.

Abdulaziz Malami, who was initially charged on February 3, faced five counts, including links to terrorism financing and unlawful possession of weapons. His lawyer, Shaibu Aruwa, confirmed that Malami received the updated charges and pleaded not guilty.

The trial judge, Joyce Abdulmalik, ruled that Malami would remain on bail, which was granted on February 27, with a sum of N200 million and two sureties required. The next hearing is scheduled for June 15, with the case stemming from the discovery of firearms and live ammunition at Malami's residence in Birnin Kebbi.
