FG Files 12-Count Charge Against Ozekhome and Useni

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a fresh 12-count charge against Mike Agbedor Abu Ozekhome, SAN, and Ponfa Useni, in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The charges, filed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Justice, accuse the defendants of conspiracy and forgery concerning a fraudulent claim to a property located at 79 Randal Avenue, London, linked to the late General Jeremiah Useni.

The allegations include the use of a forged Nigerian international passport (No. A07535463) purportedly issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service to support their claim.

Specific counts detail actions taken between May 30, 2020, and 2022, including the execution of a power of attorney in the name of a fictitious person and the unlawful control of the property and rental income. The charges were signed by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, Director of Public Prosecutions, and the defendants are currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with arraignment expected to be scheduled in the FCT High Court.
