Tinubu Launches Major Road Projects in Osun and Oyo

On August 6, 2026, President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, officially launched the construction of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan and Osogbo-Akoda-Gbongan roads. The Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road, approximately 82km long, is in poor condition and serves as a vital route connecting Osogbo to Ibadan, passing through several towns including Osogbo, Ara, and Iwo.

The contract for this road was awarded to Messrs Peculiar Concerns Limited for N114,854,477,607.93, with a completion period of 24 months. The Osogbo-Akoda-Gbongan road, approximately 44km long, will be upgraded from a single carriageway to a dual carriageway, with a contract sum of N101,806,515,825.09 awarded to Messrs Trucrete Solutions Limited, also set for completion in 24 months.

The projects will include solar-powered street lighting, drainage systems, and security measures. Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, justified the federal government's spending on these infrastructure projects, emphasizing their potential economic benefits.
