FG Awards D’Tigress Housing Documents and Honors

The Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu, has fulfilled its pledge to the D’Tigress basketball team by presenting players and officials with housing documents and national honors. This follows the team's victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship, where they claimed the title for the fifth consecutive time with a 78-64 win against Mali.

The cash reward approved by President Tinubu includes $100,000 for each player and $50,000 for the coach and technical team members. The presentation took place ahead of the D’Tigress's last group clash against Germany in the ongoing 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade were present to hand over the documents, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting Nigerian sports. Coach Rena Wakama and team captain Ami Okonkwo expressed gratitude for the support, assuring that the team will continue to excel.
