Nigeria Demands Probe into Murders of Two Nationals in SA

The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for immediate investigations into the murders of two Nigerians, Bishop Taiwo Michael Fakunle and James Uchechukwu Nwankwo, in South Africa. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that Bishop Fakunle was killed in his home in Kensington, Johannesburg, while Nwankwo was reportedly murdered following "gruesome interrogation techniques" by officers of the South African Police Service in Somerset, Cape Town.

The Nigerian government expressed that these killings are particularly alarming amid ongoing violence targeting Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa. It urged South African authorities to conduct thorough and transparent investigations, emphasizing the need for those responsible to be identified and prosecuted according to the law.
