Kwankwaso Urges Atiku to Focus on Traditional Role

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), called on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to reconsider his intention to run in the 2027 presidential election due to concerns about his age and health. This statement was made during a meeting with members of the Fulani Farmers Association at Kwankwaso's residence in Abuja on Monday.

He urged the association to convey his message to Atiku, suggesting that the elder statesman should focus on his traditional responsibilities as the Wazirin Adamawa. Kwankwaso emphasized that if he and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi were successful in the election, they would ensure that Atiku continued to receive support, particularly since he hails from Adamawa.

Atiku, who will be 81 in 2027, has a long history in Nigerian politics, having contested the presidency multiple times, including in 2007, 2019, and 2023, and has stated that the upcoming election would be his final attempt.
