Ogun LG Chairman Receives Award for Grassroots Governance

Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, the chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, was honored for his contributions to grassroots governance at a public service lecture series held in Abuja. The award, which took place on Wednesday, was organized to commemorate the 2026 United Nations Public Service Day and was based on a merit assessment process involving stakeholder nominations and independent reviews.

Sodipo emerged as a winner among local government chairmen across the South West geopolitical zone. He dedicated the award to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Adeola, acknowledging their support in fostering development initiatives.

In his remarks, Sodipo expressed surprise at receiving the award, stating it would further motivate him to serve the people diligently. He emphasized the importance of continuing to focus on grassroots development and ensuring that the lives of rural dwellers improve through collaborative efforts with the state and federal governments.
