FG Launches Abuja CNG Booster Station for Cleaner Energy

The Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated the Abuja CNG Booster Station on Friday, as part of its initiative to expand gas infrastructure and promote cleaner energy solutions. President Bola Tinubu, represented by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, described the project as a significant milestone in implementing the government's decade-long gas initiative.

The initiative aims to leverage Nigeria's 215 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves to develop the domestic economy rather than focusing primarily on exports. The Abuja Booster Station, operated by Roll Energy Limited, is expected to support the widespread adoption of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the transport industry, creating jobs and reducing transport fuel costs.

Mubarak Danbatta, CEO of Roll Energy, noted that the station has already recorded strong patronage, serving 350 to 400 vehicles daily. The project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Nigeria's gas value chain and improve energy access across the country.
