FG issues red alert over heavy flooding in 15 Northern States (FULL LIST)

The Federal Government has issued a red alert for possible heavy flooding in 15 northern states, urging residents to take urgent precautions to protect life and property. The warning, issued by the National Flood Early Warning Centre, follows a forecast of heavy rainfall from August 10 to August 14, 2025.

The affected states include Adamawa, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Niger, Taraba, Jigawa, Yobe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Borno, and Kwara. Kebbi State tops the list with 10 flagged locations at risk.

The government has called on citizens to mobilize quickly, work with local authorities and state emergency management agencies to implement safety measures, prepare for possible evacuations, and provide timely feedback on flood incidents for rapid emergency response.
