Lagos State Announces Alternative Routes for Kara Bridge Repairs

The Lagos State government has announced alternative traffic routes as repair work on Kara Bridge begins on March 10, 2026, and is expected to last until March 24, 2026. This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Transport, signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Mr.

Bolanle Ogunlola. The repairs, which are part of a joint effort with the Federal Ministry of Works, will lead to a partial closure of the bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Motorists are advised to utilize designated alternative routes to ease traffic movement during this period. The first option suggests using the Third Mainland Bridge to connect to Ketu and Mile 12, proceeding to Ogolonto and Ikorodu Garage, linking to Sabo Roundabout and Isagamu Road.

The second option involves traveling from Lagos Island via Ilubinrin and Ijora Bridge to access Eko Bridge and Funsho Williams Avenue, continuing to Ikorodu Road and connecting to the same routes. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow during the rehabilitation work.
