Nigeria Implements Measures Against Potential Ebola Outbreak

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated emergency measures to prevent a possible Ebola outbreak in response to rising concerns about cases reported in parts of Africa. On Thursday, senior government officials, including President Bola Tinubu and House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, convened in Lagos to review the country's preparedness and response systems.

They are considering temporary restrictions on international flights from affected countries to avoid a repeat of the health crisis experienced in previous years. Discussions included implementing tighter checks at airports and isolation procedures for travelers exhibiting Ebola symptoms.

Gbajabiamila disclosed that President Tinubu has already been briefed on the developments surrounding Ebola cases abroad and has directed relevant agencies to remain vigilant. The meeting included key health officials such as Dr.

Jide Idri from the NCDC and Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, who emphasized the need for improved monitoring at entry points, including airports and land borders, to enhance early detection and rapid response systems.
