FG and Nigeria Police Enhance Security for Safer Highways

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Minister of Works Engr. David Umahi, is deepening its partnership with the Nigeria Police to enhance security on the nation's highways.

During a work visit to the Nigeria Police headquarters in Abuja, Umahi and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu discussed strategies to safeguard critical infrastructure and improve security around major road projects. Umahi reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening collaboration with the police to ensure safer highways, particularly in areas experiencing security challenges.

The IGP commended the minister's efforts in transforming Nigeria's road sector, emphasizing the importance of roads in connecting communities and stimulating economic growth. Both leaders acknowledged the need for logistical support for the Nigeria Police's highway patrol units to combat theft and vandalism of road infrastructure.

The discussions underscored the significance of security in sustaining national development and economic stability, with a focus on ongoing road projects across all six geopolitical zones.
