Police Chief Disu Promises Protection for Infrastructure Projects

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja. This visit was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the ministry concerning critical infrastructure projects nationwide.

During the meeting, which included David Umahi, the Minister of State for Works, and Bello Goronyo, the Director of the Ministry, Disu reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to provide security support for the execution of essential infrastructure projects across the country. The discussions centered on the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, which aims to improve national development and connectivity.

Disu emphasized the need for stronger inter-agency collaboration to protect public infrastructure from vandalism and security threats that could disrupt construction activities. Umahi raised concerns about acts of vandalism along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway corridor, warning that such actions threaten the sustainability of the project.
