FG Approves ₦150bn Bodo-Bonny Road Extension Project

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a ₦150 billion extension of the Bodo-Bonny Road project in Rivers State, as disclosed by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Wednesday in Abuja. This project is part of a broader infrastructure initiative aimed at improving economic growth and safety.

The extension will utilize concrete technology, ensuring a lifespan of 50 to 100 years, and is designed to be completed within a 12-month deadline. The project will also include the installation of solar-powered street lights, tree planting along the corridor, and a CCTV surveillance system to enhance nighttime visibility and security.

Umahi emphasized the importance of engaging local communities and ensuring the project is cost-effective. The Federal Executive Council will ratify the government's decision, which aims to deliver world-class infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents.

The project is expected to stimulate commerce and strengthen road safety in the region.
