Ondo State Certifies 500 Artisans to Boost Skills Development

The Ondo State Board for Adult, Technical and Vocational Education, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the German Centre for Migration and Development, certified 500 artisans in various technical and vocational skills. This certification was part of a free trade test programme aimed at improving employability, promoting entrepreneurship, and strengthening the skilled workforce in Ondo State.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, described the initiative as crucial for youth empowerment and sustainable economic development. He emphasized the importance of formal certification in enhancing competitiveness and job opportunities for artisans.

Minister of Labour and Employment Muhammadu Maigari, represented by Ondo State Controller Mrs Olanike Mogboruko, highlighted the growing demand for technical skills, particularly in renewable energy. Tayo Oluyi, Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo Governor on Vocational and Technical Education, noted that the programme addresses the need for formal recognition of skilled artisans lacking certification.
