Nigeria Launches TVET Program with N22,500 Stipend

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the opening of applications for the second cohort of its flagship Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, which will commence on April 13, 2026. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of N22,500.

The initiative, aimed at reinforcing the Ministry of Education's commitment to equipping Nigerian youth with practical skills, is designed to support job creation and entrepreneurship. The program will offer intensive training over six months at accredited training centers across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Applications require a National Identification Number (NIN) and a Bank Verification Number (BVN). The Ministry of Education, led by Maruf Tunji Alausa, emphasizes the importance of partnerships to unlock Nigeria's creative economy and expand employment opportunities for young people.

The program has already seen significant interest, with 90,000 applications received during the initial rollout phase, and aims to tackle unemployment through skill development.
