FG Orders Mandatory Verification of Academic Credentials Nationwide

The Federal Government has mandated the verification of academic credentials for all staff in Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and Military/Paramilitary formations starting October 6, 2025. This directive aims to combat the widespread forgery of certificates across Nigeria.

The government will enforce strict verification checks using the National Policy on Nigeria Education Repository Databank (NERD), a centralized digital platform for managing and authenticating educational records. The NERD system will ensure the preservation and verification of academic data, enhancing educational integrity and combating certificate forgery effectively.
