Nigerian Government Mandates Thesis Submission for NYSC Mobilization

The Nigerian government has mandated that starting October 6, 2025, Nigerian graduates must submit their final year project thesis or dissertation to the Nigeria Education Repository Databank (NERD) before being mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Failure to comply will result in exemption from NYSC.

This move aims to combat certificate racketeering and ensure academic credibility. The circular issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, applies to all public and private institutions, including military and nursing colleges.

The new policy is seen as a step towards enhancing the integrity of academic qualifications in Nigeria.
