FG Strengthens Ties with Research Centers to Combat Diseases

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with private independent health research institutions to address existing diseases and prevent future outbreaks in the country. Dr.

Jide Idri, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this statement during a high-level technical visit to the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) on Wednesday. The NCDC aims to deepen collaboration with KIRCT and other private health research institutions to improve Nigeria's health security.

Dr. Idri highlighted the importance of local expertise and the need for scientists across the country to work together.

He noted that KIRCT is a cutting-edge research facility with skilled personnel dedicated to public health decisions. Professor Hamisu Salisu, the Director General of KIRCT, expressed appreciation for the NCDC's visit and emphasized the ongoing collaboration with Kano State's public health system, particularly in handling bio-specimens and infectious diseases.
