Federal Government to Address Zaria Railway Compensation Issues

The Federal Government has pledged to intervene in compensation disputes affecting residents impacted by railway construction in Zaria, Kaduna State. Funso Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, made this commitment during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamali.
Adebiyi stated that the ministry would review a request to name a proposed railway extension after the Emir's grandfather, who contributed to the establishment of railway transportation in Zaria. He assured the Emir that the ministry would examine complaints from affected residents and work towards acceptable resolutions.
Compensation-related challenges are currently delaying the railway line extension from Jadji Station towards the Kano–Abuja rail corridor. Adebiyi plans to meet with affected residents the following week to address their grievances.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration with traditional institutions for successful railway infrastructure projects.
