FG to Clear 20-Year Backlog of Workers' Entitlements

The Federal Government of Nigeria has pledged to resolve a 20-year backlog of unpaid entitlements for workers who were disengaged over the past two decades. Dasuki Arabi, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), made this announcement during a verification exercise in Gombe State aimed at identifying underpaid or unpaid former workers and beneficiaries in the North-East.

Arabi emphasized that no disengaged staff member would be left unpaid and that this final verification exercise was approved by President Bola Tinubu. The BPSR is collaborating with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Auditor-General for the Federation, and anti-corruption agencies to ensure only legitimate claims are processed.

Arabi noted that over 99% of cases regarding unpaid entitlements have been resolved. Additionally, some former workers are seeking pension reviews to reflect their years of service accurately.
