FG Initiates Final Verification for Disengaged Workers

The Federal Government has started a final verification exercise to address outstanding allowances and entitlements owed to workers disengaged under a government programme initiated around 2007/2008. Dasuki Arabi Ibrahim, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), announced this initiative in Gombe during a verification and complaints hearing for affected beneficiaries.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved this exercise to identify beneficiaries who were underpaid or denied their legitimate entitlements. Arabi emphasized that this is the final verification to resolve the matter and ensure all entitled individuals receive their full payments.

The BPSR is collaborating with the Accountant-General of the Federation, Auditor-General for the Federation, and anti-corruption agencies to verify records and prevent payments to ineligible claimants. He noted that over 99% of cases regarding non-payment have been resolved, although some beneficiaries have died, complicating claims for their heirs.

The verification exercise will continue across the six geopolitical zones, with upcoming visits to Kano and Lafia.
