Nigerian Government Denies Claims of Scholarship Students Abandoned in Morocco

The Nigerian government has refuted reports alleging that Nigerian scholarship students in Morocco have been abandoned. The Federal Ministry of Education dismissed the claims as misleading and false, emphasizing that students are enrolled in scholarship programs and receiving financial support.

The government clarified that no Nigerian student on a federal scholarship has been abandoned, with payments made in line with budgetary obligations. The government also explained the decision to discontinue fully funding bilateral scholarships abroad due to local capacity.

Activist Martin Ots had raised concerns about students not receiving financial support despite being scholarship recipients.
