Nigeria Secures 150 Convictions in Mass Terrorism Trial

The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria achieved around 150 convictions in a mass terrorism trial conducted over two days. This trial began on Monday and is set to continue until Thursday, with a total of 300 cases scheduled for court.

On the first day of the trial, 160 cases were heard, resulting in nearly 150 convictions. Fagbemi urged Nigerians to remain patient as the process unfolds, emphasizing that this exercise is part of the government's efforts to promote justice and uphold the rule of law.

He noted that a previous phase of this mass trial saw no fewer than 500 terrorism suspects tried in Abuja from April 7 to April 10. This initiative is part of the Federal Government's broader strategy to clear the backlog of terrorism-related cases and accelerate the prosecution of offenses linked to insurgent and organized criminal networks across the country.
