FG Secures 150 Terrorism Convictions in Two Days

The Federal Government of Nigeria secured approximately 150 terrorism convictions within the first two days of a mass trial phase, as disclosed by Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, on Tuesday. Fagbemi made this announcement while speaking to journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The current phase of trials commenced on Monday and involved approximately 300 cases, with 84 cases expected to conclude by the end of the week. The trials were conducted simultaneously across ten judges' courts, marking the fourth round of mass terrorism trials under the current administration.

Fagbemi emphasized that this exercise sends a clear message that the government will not tolerate any form of terrorism. The prosecutorial efforts were led by AGF Lateef Fagbemi and included Aliyu Abubakar, the Director General of the Legal Aid Council, as part of the defense team.

The overall exercise is scheduled to last for one week, following previous rounds conducted from April 7 to April 10, which involved no fewer than 500 alleged terrorists.
