Nigeria's Education Ministry Unveils Approved Textbooks List
The Federal Ministry of Education has published the final list of ranked and approved textbooks for use in Nigerian schools from 2026 to 2028. This announcement was made in a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, and shared on X.
The approved list includes textbooks for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS 1), and Senior Secondary School 1 (SS 1). Each approved textbook now features a unique Ranking/QR Tracking Code, which includes details such as title, author, publisher, and year of publication.
The QR codes aim to facilitate the identification and monitoring of approved textbooks, thereby enhancing accountability in the selection, procurement, and use of instructional materials. The initiative is overseen by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.
The ministry plans to continue the national textbook ranking exercise in phases, with the next phase covering Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2, and SS 2.
