Federal Ministry of Education Unveils Approved Textbooks List

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the final list of textbooks approved for use in Nigerian schools from 2026 to 2028. This announcement was made following the completion of the first phase of the national textbook ranking exercise, as stated by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.

The approved textbooks include materials for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS 1), and Senior Secondary School 1 (SS 1). Each approved textbook will feature a unique Ranking/QR Tracking Code to enhance identification and monitoring, containing details such as the title, author(s), publisher, and year of publication.

This system aims to improve transparency and accountability in the selection and procurement of textbooks. The second phase of the ranking exercise will cover textbooks for Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2, and SS 2.

The ministry has urged all stakeholders to consult the approved list when selecting or purchasing textbooks for the specified classes.
