65 of 69 Tinubu's Ambassadorial Nominees Cleared

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reported that 65 out of 69 ambassadorial nominees appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have received the necessary diplomatic clearance from their respective host countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that 97 percent of the nominees have obtained agrément, the formal approval required before an ambassador can be posted.

This information was shared in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa. The ministry clarified that the four unresolved postings include one nominee who declined the appointment to Togo and another who passed away in April 2026, necessitating a replacement.

The ministry is awaiting confirmation from two countries regarding their nominees but has received assurances that consent will be granted soon. Most of the newly appointed ambassadors have already arrived at their duty posts and presented their Letters of Credence, allowing them to commence their diplomatic responsibilities on behalf of Nigeria.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Nigeria's diplomatic presence globally.
