FG Seals Paradise Estate Properties Over Housing Complaints

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Mavin Nadah, the Deputy Director of Surveillance and Investigation at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), took enforcement action on Thursday against Paradise Estate Limited. This action was prompted by numerous complaints from the real estate sector regarding the company's failure to comply with regulatory directives.

Consumers had paid for properties three years ago without receiving any value. The FCCPC issued a compliance notice on February 24, 2026, giving the company seven days to comply.

However, Paradise Estate Limited ignored the notice, leading to the enforcement action to seal the properties. Nadah emphasized that the commission's actions are fully backed by law, particularly under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) of 2018, reaffirming the commission's commitment to protecting consumers from exploitation and misleading practices.

Aloysius Ezenwa, the head of legal at Paradise Home, expressed dissatisfaction with the sealing of the properties, arguing that existing contracts of sale were being protected.
