Nigeria's AGF Commits to Combatting Terrorism with Trials

Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation, declared the government's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in Nigeria. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, he emphasized that the administration will not take terrorism lightly and will continue prosecuting suspects to ensure the safety of Nigerians.

Fagbemi announced the start of a new phase of terror trials, involving nearly 600 suspects facing terror-related charges. This marks the fourth phase of ongoing trials under the current administration, with the latest proceedings indicating that 490 suspects are currently on trial, while an additional 84 will be added, not including 102 suspects carried over from the previous phase.

He assured that the judiciary will ensure a fair trial process, reinforcing the government's broader strategy to combat insecurity across the country.
