FG Enhances Telecom Connectivity in Abia's Bende Constituency

The Federal Government of Nigeria is advancing its National Universal Communications Access Programme (NUCAP) to improve telecommunications connectivity in rural communities, particularly in Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, praised Deputy Speaker Rt.

Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu for prioritizing the area. Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive, the initiative aims to provide reliable mobile and broadband services to unserved and underserved regions.

A telecommunications tower is currently being constructed along the Umuahia–Ohafia road in Bende, which is expected to enhance connectivity for surrounding communities. The Minister noted that Bende is a geographically extensive local government area, and additional sites may be necessary to ensure comprehensive coverage.

The ministry is collaborating closely with Kalu’s office to address the connectivity needs of the communities.
