FG Inaugurates Committee to Address Foreign Missions' Debt Crisis

The Federal Government of Nigeria has established a committee to address the debt profile of foreign missions. The committee aims to ensure that funds remitted to the missions are judiciously utilized and prudently managed.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, 80% of the available funds have been cleared for payment. The government is also working to obtain refunds for the shortfall in mission allocations due to foreign exchange differentials.

This initiative is part of the government's efforts to address financial and operational constraints faced by diplomatic and consular missions abroad, stemming from budgetary limitations and economic challenges at home.
