Nigeria Enhances Logistics Partnership with China for Trade

On Monday, the Federal Government of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country's transport and logistics ecosystem to drive economic diversification, industrialization, and regional trade integration. Speaking virtually at the 2026 Ningbo–Africa Trade & Logistics Cooperation Forum in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, Dr.

Segun Obayendo, the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, emphasized that efficient logistics are crucial for achieving Nigeria's goal of a US$1 trillion economy by 2030. He highlighted the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes infrastructure development and trade facilitation.

Dr. Obayendo noted Nigeria's strategic advantages, including its location and access to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), while stressing the need for investment in multimodal transport infrastructure and logistics systems.

He also pointed out China's zero-tariff policy for African exports as an opportunity for Nigeria to enhance its manufacturing and global trade participation.
