FG Suspends $300 Helicopter Landing Levy for Two Months

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a temporary suspension of the $300 helicopter landing levy for two months, responding to concerns raised by stakeholders in the petroleum industry. The announcement was made during a meeting attended by various representatives, including Keyamo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and Yakubu Adam, the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The levy, which was prescribed by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), faced criticism from stakeholders who argued that its enforcement in its current form would disrupt oil and gas operations. The inter-ministerial committee, comprising representatives from both the aviation and petroleum sectors, has been tasked with examining the concerns and working towards an amicable resolution.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration between the aviation and petroleum sectors, emphasizing the critical role of the industry in Nigeria's economy.
