FG to Construct Modern Bus Terminals in FCT

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Elechi Chinedum, announced plans to build three modern bus terminals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to improve public transport and reduce crime. This statement was made on Tuesday at Jabi Park, Abuja, during a drug sensitization program for transport operators.

The initiative aims to strengthen the transport sector and provide comfortable spaces for commuters. Segun Obayendo, a coordinator for the Tinubu 2027 support group, emphasized the importance of enhancing health and safety within the transport sector.

Isiaka Abdullahi, from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, urged the government to address double taxation for drivers and provide vehicles instead of loans, which he argued could lead to financial strain. Ndubuisi Agabu from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency called for drivers to avoid drug abuse, highlighting its negative impacts on health and safety.
