FG Launches EIBIC to Boost Entrepreneurship in Universities

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled the Entrepreneurship Innovation Business Incubation Certificate (EIBIC) in 14 federal universities, with the goal of linking academic degrees to entrepreneurship. This initiative, announced by Dr.

Tunji Alausa during a ceremony in Abuja, aims to prevent Nigerian graduates from becoming job seekers and instead empower them to become job creators. The selected universities represent six geopolitical zones and include notable institutions such as the University of Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, and Bayero University.

The program is set to be fully integrated by 2027, with federal polytechnics and colleges of education included by 2028. Dr.

Alausa expressed optimism about students' enthusiasm for this initiative, which seeks to shift the focus of education towards practical entrepreneurship. The EIBIC program aims to nurture entrepreneurial skills among students, ultimately positioning Nigerian universities as hubs for entrepreneurial talent and innovation, thereby enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness.
