FG Calls on Media to Enhance Anti-Corruption Efforts

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Minister Mohammed Idris, has called on the media to bolster anti-corruption initiatives. This appeal was made during a media outreach program themed "The Role of Media in the Fight Against Corruption," which took place in Abuja.

The program, signed by Special Assistant to the Minister Rabiu Ibrahim, emphasized the media's influential role in shaping public perception and driving accountability. Idris highlighted the administration of President Bola Tinubu's commitment to addressing corruption and illicit financial flows, positioning Nigeria as a responsible player in the global fight against financial crime.

The government aims to reform and strengthen the financial intelligence system, improve monitoring of suspicious transactions, and enhance compliance with global anti-money laundering standards. Challenges faced by the media, including misinformation and limited resources, were acknowledged, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to empower journalists and ensure access to credible information.

The government reiterated its support for the media in the fight against corruption.
