Nigeria Urges Vietnam to Boost Trade to $2 Billion

The Federal Government of Nigeria has called on Vietnam to elevate the volume of bilateral trade to $2 billion. This appeal was made by Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a reception in Abuja on Friday night, which celebrated the 81st National Day of Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Vietnam.

Currently, the trade volume stands at over $1 billion. Ahmed emphasized Nigeria's commitment to deepening this partnership to support its goal of achieving a one trillion dollar economy.

He highlighted the productive cooperation between the two nations over the past five decades in sectors such as agriculture, trade, investment, and defense. Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Le Viet Hoang, acknowledged Nigeria as one of Vietnam's largest trading partners in Africa and expressed readiness to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including high-tech agriculture and telecommunications.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
