FG Reaffirms Commitment to End Terrorism in Northeast

On Tuesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Minister of Defence Gen Christoph Musa (retd) and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, reaffirmed its commitment to ending terrorism and restoring peace in the northeast. This declaration came during a tribute to soldiers killed in action during counter-insurgency operations in Borno State.

The ministers visited Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, where they, alongside senior military officials including Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai Maj Gen Abubakar Abdulsalam, laid wreaths in honor of the fallen personnel. During the visit, they also met with Governor Babagana Zulum to express condolences for a recent bomb blast that claimed 23 lives and injured 108 others.

Musa assured that the Federal Government would sustain efforts to end terrorism in the region, emphasizing the determination of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide necessary support to the armed forces and security agencies. The visit also included prayers for the deceased and commiseration for the victims of recent attacks.
