FG Reaffirms Commitment to Education at Yakubu Gowon University

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education sector during the combined convocation ceremony at Yakubu Gowon University held on Saturday.

The event honored three individuals with honorary doctorates: Dr. Paul Odili, who received a Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa, and Prof.

Yusuf Ali, among others. A total of 4,573 postgraduate students graduated from the 2024-2026 academic session, including 815 postgraduate diploma holders, 1,724 academic master's degree graduates, 1,244 professional master's graduates, 729 PhD holders, and 61 professional doctorate graduates.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Hakeem Fawehunmi emphasized the importance of integrity and discipline among graduates.

Dr. Odili expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to support the university's leadership in addressing challenges.

The convocation ceremony is part of a week-long program that began on April 10, 2026, and included various academic and public engagement activities.
