FG Commits to Security in Zamfara as Governor Joins APC

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, has committed to addressing the security challenges in Zamfara State, particularly in light of Governor Dauda Lawal's recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a formal reception in Gusau on Tuesday, Shettima assured that the government would deploy adequate security personnel and equipment to combat banditry that continues to threaten lives and property in the state.

He congratulated Lawal on joining the APC and urged the residents of Zamfara to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. Additionally, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle announced that he would not contest the Zamfara governorship election in 2027, expressing his support for Lawal's re-election.

Lawal, who previously served in the People's Democratic Party (PDP), expressed gratitude for the support he received from APC stakeholders and assured party members of inclusivity and focus on progress in the state.
