Amaka Onwughalu Named Woman of the Year at AMTI Awards

Amaka Onwughalu, the Chair of Fidelity Bank PLC, was honored as Woman of the Year at the 5th Anambra Man of the Year AMTI Awards. This recognition acknowledges her significant contributions to Nigeria's banking industry and corporate governance throughout her distinguished career spanning three decades.

Sr. Prof. Adaoma Igwedibia announced the award, highlighting Onwughalu's exemplary integrity and resilience in her profession. She made history as the first woman to chair the board of Fidelity Bank PLC and previously served as the first female bank managing director in Anambra State when she led Mainstreet Bank in 2014.

Onwughalu has held several top management roles, including Deputy Managing Director at Skye Bank PLC and Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at Reliance Bank Limited. She also served as Chief Executive Officer at Blueshield Financial Services Limited.

Academically, Onwughalu holds a degree in Economics from the University of Buckingham and an MBA from the University of Port Harcourt, along with a master's degree in corporate governance from Leeds Metropolitan University. She is a fellow member of several professional bodies.
