FIFA to Celebrate US 250th Anniversary at 2026 World Cup

FIFA plans to incorporate celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States' Declaration of Independence during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to reports, the festivities will coincide with a Round of 16 match scheduled for July 4 in Houston and Philadelphia.

The White House Task Force 250, led by Andrew Giuliani, is encouraging sports organizations to connect major sporting events with the anniversary celebrations. The World Cup will feature a large "Freedom Trailer" truck decorated with the American flag and official FIFA fan festivals across host cities.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is expected to attend the July 4 fixture, which will serve as a platform to celebrate American patriotism and history during the tournament, which will include 48 teams and be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
