Nigerians Praise Military's Commitment to Human Rights

A non-partisan advocacy group, the Pro People Security Development Think Tank, has lauded the Nigerian military for its adherence to human rights during operations aimed at combating insecurity. The group specifically praised the leadership of General Olufemi Oluyede, noting that reforms under his stewardship have strengthened operational discipline and public confidence in military operations.

The commendation occurred during a peace development rally held on Monday in Masaka, Nasarawa State, where community leaders, civil society actors, and local residents gathered. Micheal Adamu emphasized the need for security operations to balance confronting violent threats while safeguarding civilian lives.

The military's recent successes, including the neutralization of terrorist leaders and the rescue of kidnapped individuals, were highlighted. Adamu welcomed proposals for salary increments for soldiers, stating it would boost troop morale and enhance operational effectiveness.

The event underscored the importance of collective action to address Nigeria's security challenges and the necessity for greater investment in programs targeting poverty and unemployment.
