Joseph Okechukwu's 'Properties of the Gods' Set for 2026 Release

Acclaimed Nollywood filmmaker Joseph Okechukwu, also known as King Joe Okechukwu, returns to the big screen with ‘Properties of the Gods’, a historical drama set for release on September 4, 2026. Nile Entertainment will distribute the film across cinemas in Nigeria, with international screenings planned in Ghana, the United Kingdom, and other territories.

The film, which took four years to produce, explores themes of history, identity, love, and tradition, specifically addressing the Osu caste system in Igbo history. The cast includes notable actors such as Pete Edochie, Enyinna Nwigwe, Maria Chike Benjamin, Zack Orji, Hilda Dokubo, Elvina Ibru, Linc Edochie, Jennifer Eliogu, Obi Okoli, Ofia Mbaka, and the late Onyeka Onwenu in one of her final performances.

Okechukwu expressed that the film is a significant story that needed to be told, aiming to inspire audiences to engage in meaningful conversations about shared humanity.
