Fire Outbreak at Ikeja's Purple Crown Hotel Contained

A fire outbreak occurred at Purple Crown Hotel located on Balogun Street, along Awolowo Road, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, reported at 9:52 am. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that its response team, led by Permanent Secretary Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, contained the fire with no casualties.

The fire affected a room on the first floor, and preliminary investigations suggested it was triggered by an electrical fault. Emergency responders, including LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Nigeria Police, arrived within 10 minutes of the distress call.

All hotel guests and staff were safely evacuated to a designated muster point, and a roll call was conducted to ensure their safety. The fire was extinguished, and access to the building was restricted pending a structural and electrical integrity assessment.

Oke-Osanyintolu commended the responders for their swift action and urged hotel operators to prioritize electrical maintenance and safety compliance.
